Key Features of Waterproof Webbing

Engineered for harsh, wet environments, our custom waterproof webbing combines superior water repellency with high strength and long-service durability—fully tailored to your specs and branding.

True Waterproof Barrier

PU/PVC/eco-PU coatings form a continuous film that blocks water ingress during rain, splash, and immersion.

Salt & Chemical Resistance

Coated surface resists salt fog, oils, sunscreens, and common cleaners—ideal for marine and outdoor use.

UV & Weather Stability

UV inhibitors help prevent fading, cracking, and delamination under prolonged sun and temperature swings.

Mildew/Mold Protection

Optional anti-microbial treatments keep straps fresher in humid, wet environments.

High Tensile & Abrasion Resistance

Reinforced weave and durable coating maintain strength and surface integrity through repeated flex and load.

Low Water Absorption & Fast Drying

Hydrophobic finish sheds droplets and dries quickly to reduce weight gain and discomfort.

Sealed Edges, No Fray

Heat-sealed or bound edges minimize wicking and prevent fraying for longer service life.

Colorfast, Brand-Ready Finish

Coatings support Pantone/CMYK color matching and crisp logos (woven-in, printed, or embossed) without bleeding.

Our Custom Waterproof Webbing Production Process

We run a tight, test-driven workflow to ensure every meter of waterproof webbing meets strength, repellency, and durability targets. Below are the eight stages from brief to shipment.

Step 1:

Requirements & Engineering Brief

We gather your specs (width 10–100 mm, GSM/thickness, tensile target, coating type—PU/PVC/eco-PU, color/Pantone, branding, edge finish, compliance needs) and translate them into a technical datasheet and QC plan.

Step 2:

Base Webbing Selection & Weaving

Depending on end use, we choose polyester/nylon/canvas bases, then weave to your width and density for load and abrasion targets. Heat-setting controls shrinkage and stabilizes dimensions before coating.

Step 3:

Surface Preparation

Desizing/cleaning plus corona or flame treatment improves surface energy so coatings anchor firmly. Pre-bake removes residual moisture to prevent pinholes and blistering.

Step 4:

Waterproof Coating / Lamination

Automated knife-over-roll or transfer coating applies PU, PVC, TPU, or eco-PU at controlled thickness (matte/semi-gloss/gloss). Multi-pass options add UV, anti-mildew, and anti-oil layers. Precision ovens cure and bond the film for a continuous hydrophobic barrier.

Step 5:

Branding & Edge Finishing

Logos/patterns are woven-in, heat-embossed, or screen-printed post-cure. Edges are heat-sealed, overlocked, or bound to stop fraying and capillary wicking, extending service life in wet use.

Step 6:

Slitting, Cutting & Hardware Fit-Check

Rolls are slit to tolerance, supplied as continuous rolls or cut-to-length parts. We perform fit checks with buckles/D-rings/hooks you specify to validate thickness and flexibility.

Step 7:

Quality Control & Certification Tests

Each lot tested for tensile/elongation, abrasion, AATCC 22 water repellency, UV/weathering, salt-spray, colorfastness, coating adhesion, dimensions, and shrinkage; tolerances verified. Deliverables: QC report, lot traceability, AQL 2.5 pass/fail labels.

Step 8:

Packaging & Logistics

Webbing is wound on cores, moisture-barrier wrapped, labeled with spec/lot/QC. Outer cartons can carry your private label. We arrange air/sea/express shipping with typical timelines: samples 3–5 days, production 7–12 days after approval. MOQ from 500 m per spec/color.

Everything You Need to Know About Our Waterproof Webbing

Get quick answers to the most common questions about materials, customization options, durability, applications, and order process.

Is nylon webbing waterproof?

Not by itself. Nylon (PA) absorbs ~3–7% water by weight, so it will take on moisture and lose some strength when wet. To make nylon webbing truly waterproof, add a continuous coating (PU/PVC/TPU/eco-PU) and seal the edges to stop wicking. Polyester (PET) absorbs far less water (~0.4–0.8%), and polypropylene (PP) is virtually hydrophobic.

Polyester (PET): Best balance of low water uptake, UV colorfastness, and strength (marine/outdoor).

Nylon (PA): Softer hand and higher elasticity; needs coating to mitigate water uptake (packs, apparel).

Polypropylene (PP): Very low water absorption and light weight; lower heat/UV tolerance than PET.

PU / eco-PU: Soft, flexible; great for outdoor gear/apparel; good water barrier.

PVC: Firm, ultra-durable; top abrasion/salt resistance for marine/industrial.

TPU: Premium elastic feel; excellent low-temperature flex and abrasion (fitness/aquatics).

We report AATCC 22 spray rating (90–100) and can test static water column on request. We also control edge sealing to prevent capillary wicking—critical for real-world waterproof performance.

Coatings slightly increase stiffness and thickness but protect fibers, so wet-strength retention stays ≥95–98% with the right stack. We’ll tune coating weight to meet your load and hand-feel targets.

Yes—spec PET base + marine-grade PVC or TPU with UV inhibitors and anti-mildew. We can provide ISO 4892 (QUV) and ISO 9227 (salt-spray) results in the QC report.

Absolutely. Pantone/CMYK color-matching, woven-in jacquard (before coating), and post-coat branding (screen/transfer print or heat emboss/deboss). We advise the most durable method per coating.

Widths 10–100 mm (custom beyond on request); GSM/thickness tuned to load. Typical tolerances: width ±0.5 mm, thickness ±0.10–0.15 mm. Supply in rolls or cut-to-length parts.

MOQ 500 m/ spec & color. Samples 3–5 days (lab dip/coating swatch/hand sample). Production 7–12 days after approval (shipping extra). Batch QC report + lot traceability included.

Choose anti-mildew/antimicrobial add-ons and low-uptake bases (PET/PP). Rinse with fresh water after salt exposure; clean using mild detergent. Quick-dry finishes help suppress odor.
