Frequently Asked Questions About Flat Webbing

Get quick answers to the most common questions about materials, customization options, durability, applications, and order process.

What is flat webbing?

Flat webbing is a woven textile tape, typically made from synthetic or natural fibers, that lies flat under load. It’s used for straps, handles, tie-downs, and reinforcing applications where a smooth, broad contact surface is required.

Tubular webbing generally offers greater strength and abrasion resistance because fibers loop around the core, distributing load more evenly. Flat webbing provides a smoother surface and is easier to print or finish, but for equal denier and width, tubular usually has a higher breaking strength.

Nylon: High elasticity and abrasion resistance

Polyester: Low stretch, UV-resistant, weatherproof

Cotton: Soft hand-feel, non-abrasive

Polypropylene/PE: Lightweight, chemical/mildew resistant

Specialty blends: Flame-retardant, anti-static, or recycled fibers

Standard widths range from 10 mm (⅜″) to 100 mm (4″), with custom sizes on request. Thickness depends on material and weave—typically 1.2 mm to 4 mm—to achieve the required tensile strength.

Heat-sealing: Melts and seals synthetic fibers

Over-lock stitching: Locks edges with reinforced thread

Bound-edge tape: Adds a protective fabric binding

UV-sealing coatings: Protect against weathering

MOQ: From 100 meters or pieces per specification

Design mock-ups: 1–2 days

Sample turnaround: 3–5 days

Bulk production: 10–15 days after sample approval

Screen-printing & heat-transfer: Bold, multi-color logos

Dye-sublimation & digital print: Photo-quality graphics

Jacquard weave: Integrated patterns and logos

Woven labels, embroidery, laser engraving, PVC badges

Tensile Strength: EN ISO 13934, ASTM D6775

Abrasion Resistance: ISO 12947, Martindale method

UV & Weathering: ISO 105-B02 or equivalent

Chemical Compliance: REACH, RoHS

Load Testing: EN 12195-2 for tie-downs

Outdoor & Marine: Tie-downs, slings, awnings

Apparel & Accessories: Bag straps, belts, pet leashes

Furniture & Upholstery: Seat belts, webbing supports
